Former MLA George Tirkey passes away

Bhubaneswar(20/09/2025): Former MLA of Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district, George Tirkey, has passed away. He died at the age of 67 in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, according to reports. George Tirkey had been unwell for the past few months. He was well known as a prominent labour leader and tribal activist. He was elected as an MLA in 1995, 2000, 2009, and 2014. He was elected twice from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), once as an independent, and once from the Samata Kranti Dal.
