Cash reward announced for information on Choudwar Jail escapees

Bhubaneswar (03/10/2025): The Odisha Police has announced cash reward for anyone providing information on the two undertrial prisoners (UTPs) who escaped from Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack district late on Friday night. A cash reward of Rs 50,000 has been announced for providing information on the whereabouts of the UTPs. The two escapees have been identified as Raja Sahani of Lohia Nagar under Muffasil police station in Begusarai district and Madhukanta Kumar of Rampur under Gaura police station in Sarana district of Bihar. The police have assured that the identity of the informant will remain undisclosed. They have issued two phone numbers - 9437148168 and 9338025119) while seeking information about the two escapees. The duo had been arrested in connection with a murder case in Panikoili area of Jajpur district of Odisha. They managed to flee by cutting the bars of the cell.
They had earlier made multiple failed attempts to escape from the jail. Soon after the incident, two warders - Bhagat Ram and Siddhant Sahu- were placed under suspension for alleged dereliction of duty.
