Special Olympics Bharat Basketball National Championship inaugurated

Bhubaneswar(06/10/2025): The Special Olympics Bharat Basketball National Championship got off to a colourful and vibrant start with nearly 250 campers taking part in the Opening Ceremony held in the picturesque background of the Barunei Hills at KT Global School Cricket Ground, Khordha.

Athletes, coaches, partners, officials and parents from 16 states took part in the march past that followed the flag hoisting conducted by Colonel (Retired) Dr.Kedarnath Dash along with Rajasekhar Cheli, National Board Member, Special Olympics Bharat, Gokulananda Dash, Retired DGM, SBI, Umakanta Sarangi, Vice President, Prakash Rath, Area Director, Arpita Mohapatra, State Program Coordinator of SOB-Odisha and Siddharth Rout, CEO, KT Global School.

International Special Olympians, Sarita Routray, Aridita Chakraborty and Baishnab Rajpalia administered the oath to all the guests and campers.

Manatosh Behera, Board Member gave the vote of thanks. Later in the day Sonali Chand, OSD, Sports Department, Government of Odisha released the jersey and tossed the ball to start the first league match between the female teams of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
