
Curtain Raiser Event for Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave – 2025 organised by CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar on behalf of Government of India
Bhubaneswar(17/10/2025): CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, organised the Curtain Raiser Event for the Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) – 2025 under the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing (4M) Theme.CSIR-IMMT has been entrusted with this responsibility as its Director, Dr.Ramanuj Narayan, serves as the Theme Director for the 4M theme. The purpose of the curtain raiser was to convey to society through the media that the Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) – 2025, organised by the Government of India, is a significant national event taking place from 3rd to 5th November 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.The conclave aims to bring together scientific, industrial, and academic communities to showcase India’s progress and vision in frontier technologies for a sustainable and self-reliant future.The Curtain Raiser event brought together eminent scientists, technologists, academicians, and industry leaders to deliberate on the latest advancements in materials science, sustainable manufacturing, and innovation-driven industrial development. Dr.D.Singh, Former Chairman, IREL (India) Limited graced the occasion as chief guest. Dr.Prakash Kumar, Director, CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad and Dr.C.Raghu Kumar, Head (Beneficiation), AM/NS attended as guests of honour. In his address, Dr.Ramanuj Narayan, Director, CSIR-IMMT, emphasised the importance of developing advanced materials and sustainable manufacturing processes to strengthen India’s industrial ecosystem and contribute to the nation’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.He also invited everyone to actively participate in ESTIC 2025.He also told about the 11 themes of the conclave which is being contributed by a number of ministries related to R&D and academics. Dr.D.Singh, Former Chairman, IREL (India) Ltd., mentioned that advanced materials are the building blocks of modern India.He emphasised that collaborative efforts among R&D institutions like CSIR-IMMT, academia, and industry will be further strengthened through ESTIC 2025, organised by the Government of India, to promote convergence in science, technology, and innovation. Dr.Prakash Kumar, Director, CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad, congratulated CSIR-IMMT for taking the initiative to raise the curtain for ESTIC 2025.He highlighted the importance of CSIR-NGRI’s role in understanding the geological structure of the Earth, which aids in identifying mineral deposits crucial for the sustainable development of the nation. Dr.C.Raghu Kumar, Head (Beneficiation), AM/NS, emphasised the importance of R&D in the areas of earth science, mineral processing, and metallurgy to make India future-ready through advanced materials manufacturing. Dr.L.D.Besra addressed the gathering by motivating researchers to contribute to nation-building using the resources available at hand so that the dream of Viksit Bharat 2047 can be realised. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr.Y.S.Choudhary, the coordinator of the Curtain Raiser Event, and the proceedings were conducted by Dr.Manju Unnikrishnan.
