
Seminar on Communicative Competence through Literature at Bishnu Samantaray College
Nuahat(18/10/2025): The Department of English, Bishnu Samantaray College, Nuahat, organized a seminar on āCommunicative Competence through Literature, Media and Interactive Learningā in the Smart Classroom of the college premises, bringing together faculty, academicians, and students for a day of scholarly exchange.The seminar began with the ceremonial lighting of candles by the Resource Person, Dr.Pravat Kumar Mishra, Retired Principal of Niali College, accompanied by Chief Guest Narayan Chandra Muduli, Administrative Bursar, and all faculty members of the Department.Dr.Ambika Tripathy, Head of the Department of English, presided over the meeting and, in her welcome address, stressed the departmentās commitment to communicative skill development.Lecturer Geetanjali Mohanty introduced the guests, followed by the keynote address of Lecturer Pritam Mishra, who briefly underlined that communicative competence is not theory but lived practice, shaped by literature, media, and interactive pedagogy, thereby setting the stage for the seminar.The academic session included paper presentations by +3 Second Year student Srusti Shobana Barik and +3 First Year student Swatismita Samal, reflecting the engagement of the student community.The highlight was the Resource Talk by Dr.Pravat Kumar Mishra, whose erudite exposition on literature, media, and interactive learning offered both depth and direction, captivating the audience and standing out as the intellectual centrepiece of the seminar.In particular, his emphasis on literature as a bridge between language and life gave the discussion a lasting resonance.In his remarks, Chief Guest Narayan Chandra Muduli emphasized the importance of English proficiency in broadening horizons and career prospects, and the seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Lecturer Girish Kumar Raul.
