State-Level launch of Family-Focused Village Development Programme aims to build resilient communities in Odisha

Bhubaneswar(17/10/2024): In an effort to address the diverse needs of rural families in Odisha, the Family-Focused Village Development Programme (FFVDP) has been launched at a state-level event at the ICMR-RMRC Auditorium in Bhubaneswar. The day marked by a series of cultural performances, expert panel discussions, and the formal release of key publications. Rajendra Meher, CEO of Youth Council for Development Alternatives (YCDA), deliver the welcome address, emphasizing the program’s vision to drive holistic development through partnerships with local communities and international collaborators, including the Linsi Foundation from Switzerland.
Sangeetha, Director of FFVDP India, share the journey of the program through videos and presentations, showcasing the progress achieved so far.
The event also highlighted the release of the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Handbook, focusing on improving menstrual Hygiene Management, followed by guest addresses from key dignitaries such as Dr.Mukesh Mahaling, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, and Krishna Chandra Patra, Minister, Food supply and consumer welfare, Government of Odisha.
Tribal community members from Koraput, Sambalpur and Boudh shared personal testimonials on how FFVDP has positively impacted their lives.
In the second episode, the panel discussion on Building Resilient Communities Through Family-focused Village Development featured distinguished panelists, including Biraj Laxmi Sarangi from PCI India, Chita Ranjan Panigrahi from the Odisha Government’s Elementary Education department, and Debi Prasad Nayak from the Odisha Livelihoods Mission.
The discussions focused on innovative approaches to strengthening rural resilience in Odisha’s most vulnerable regions.
The day culminates in a closing ceremony with memento presentations, a group photo, and networking opportunities.
Around 300 participants from five districts participated in the conference.
