Two-day special drive against underage driving launched in Odisha

Bhubaneswar (29/07/2024): The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) on Monday launched a special drive against underage drinking.The vehicles driven by minors shall be detained as far as possible.FIR against the guardian or owner shall be filed at the police station where juvenile offence is found. The STA has asked senior officials to take steps to sensitise juveniles regarding the impact of road accidents. In a letter to the Regional Transport Officers (RTOs), the STA had earlier instructed to take consistent and punitive action under the provisions of 199 (A) of the Motor Vehicles Act considering the severity of road accidents and death cases in the state.
